Parent Metal Thread and Keyway Connections

Polaris High Chrome pump components do not utilize cast-in soft steel inserts for drilled, threaded or key seated connection points. Using the inferior cast-in insert method for manufacturing submersible pump parts will reduce their manufacturing cost but it has serious implications and consequences when such components are deployed into low PH applications such as FGD scrubber sumps. Structural integrity in service should never be a concern and that is why all of our High Chrome components undergo a double heat treatment process. Our High Chrome castings are softened; pre-machined and operations such as drilling; tapping and key seating are then performed into the parent metal. The semi finished parts are then re-hardened to 650+ BHN hardness with all critical fits receiving a secondary machining operation.
